I have been very blessed to have been raised by Godly parents who encouraged me to dream big and experience life to the fullest. I have a degree in Business Administration and have been able to travel the world. I have worked for several wonderful companies including LaFarge and Cessna.
I have served with Mercy Ships, which has given me much insight into our world. I would encourage everyone, no matter what age you are, to donate your time and resources to this phenomenal ministry. I was able to visit many ports in Europe and Africa, while living with people from all over the world.
I’ve had the thrill of getting my private pilot’s license, and the satisfaction of using a jackhammer. I’ve also found myself running with the bulls in Spain, and checking the shark nets in South Africa. My latest adventures are raising six kids and homeschooling them along with my amazing husband, Jim. This is not for the faint of heart! I am so grateful for the privilege and opportunity to do this. It has been my greatest blessing.
I have also been extremely grateful to have been providing Cross Seven as a resource for families. It has been a blessing to know that this website is providing many homeschoolers with an excellent resource at a reasonable price. I am extremely grateful for Claritas Publishing and their incredible diligence to create this musical memory work.
I teach the memory work class to my local homeschool co-op called Central Homeschool Family Ministries. I have been working with students for the past 10 years. My youngest is still in grade school, so I still have several years to go. Then who knows, what if grandchildren start becoming a part of my life?!?!
I spend a lot of time volunteering with Kansas Home Educators. They provide so many incredible resources for homeschoolers. I have loved getting to know and working with true homeschool heroes.
A new adventure has been to work with the staff children at NewSpring church. It is a Bible believing fellowship, and our purpose is to help people make an eternal connection with Jesus Christ and with others in order to grow strong to produce fruit for the kingdom of God. Our strategy is to accomplish this by creating joyful, relevant, irresistible environments led by skilled staff and dedicated volunteers.
One last note is that I have two children in college. They will be graduating in the year to come. So many wonderful things have happened throughout the years, and it’s all come about because of our family’s decision to follow God and homeschool our kids! It is the toughest job I’ll ever love!

How long has Cross7 been around?
Dear Cathy,
Thank you very much for your inquiry on the Cross Seven website.
I am a homeschool mom of 6 kids.
In 2012, I was interested in finding a curriculum that would provide memory work for my multi-aged family, as well as the freedom to use the materials any way I wanted for the co-op my family was in.
I wasn’t finding a good fit, and prayed about the matter.
I ended up finding Claritas Classical Academy through an internet search. They had just completed writing their Cycle 1 materials and were implementing it in their co-op! I contacted them and they generously shared everything they had created…a memory guide and CDs.
I immediately fell in love with their program. They were in the middle of creating Cycle 2, and when they finished that, they freely shared that with me as well. Throughout the years, they finished developing 4 cycles, and those are all offered through the Cross Seven website as well.
I had a daughter who was extremely gifted in memorizing vast amounts of information quickly. She needed a visual component in order to quickly memorize the materials, so I inquired of Claritas to create a digital format of their work. They agreed and I have been continuously improving the Cross Seven website since that time.
I started teaching the Claritas curriculum using Cycle 2. I am now in the middle of my ninth year teaching memory work classes in a co-op setting, and I am also teaching through True North Homeschool Academy.
It has been a blessing to provide a valuable resource to many families and co-ops in the US, and in other parts of the world.
I am always open to new ideas and hope to continuously develop the resources that are offered on the Cross Seven website.
I love talking to families who want to know more.
Kindest regards,
Laura
